With the objective of imparting technology knowledge and skills to rural students, Computer Science Programme was started in the academic year 2006-2007 in the Department of Computer Science. Responding to the need of the Post-Graduation level of Computer Science education, MSc Computer Science programme was added in 2010. The department has the syllabus and curriculum of a mixture of both theory and practical. It has well equipped laboratories with the state of art technology and other facilities. It has produced quality professionals holding key positions in IT companies across the states of India.
The prime motto of the department is to empower women and first generation learners in the field of computer science and applications. The department aims to develop the programming skills of the young learners to meet the current trends of Computer Science and focusing on inculcating lateral thinking and making them professionally competent to meet the global challenges in Computer Science & Applications field. It encourages the students to be socially responsible and to acquire entrepreneurial skills related to technology and computer science to become global leaders. Further it promotes quality and ethics among the students through Value Based Education.

The Department of Computer Science at Valluvar College recently launched Inno Tech 2K24 with an exhilarating "Crorepati Contest," where ten enthusiastic participants showcased their knowledge and quick thinking in a riveting quiz session. The event kicked off with an inspiring address from Secretary Mrs. Hemalatha Senguttuvan, who praised the competitors and emphasized the importance of dedication, echoing the exemplary path of Chief Guest Mr. Prasanth Velusamy.
The afternoon culminated in a celebratory awards ceremony led by our Chairman, Thiru. K. Senguttuvan, who recognized the outstanding achievements of our students. As the event drew to a close, the audience was treated to vibrant dance performances by the Computer Science students, including mesmerizing solo acts and a thrilling Chinese Group Dance, leaving everyone in awe of their talent and energy.
