About the Department

Hotel Management and Catering Science Institution was established in 2002 by the Valluvar Educational Trust as an extended unit of Valluvar Hotel business. Valluvar management had decided to increase the employability opportunities in the Hospitality industry and also educate the new generation with the healthy eating habits and hygiene cooking practices.

As a field of study, it involves learning the management techniques that cover all aspects of managing a hotel business including hotel administration, marketing, housekeeping, accounts, maintenance, food management, catering, and beverage management.

Understanding the need and importance of tourism industry a profitable sector giving a vast scope for employment opportunities and job creations, under graduate degree programme Hotel Management and Catering Science was started in the Department of Hotel Management and Catering Science in 2002. The department aims the students to get professional experience to a lucrative entry positions in food or beverage service, accounts, restaurant service, executive housekeeping, marketing in hotels. Further, it has the policy of imparting quality education and training for the students in order to achieve globally accepted capabilities in the field of hospitality.
