About the Department
Aesthetics sense of experiencing good art or seeing true beauty is a source of value and meaning in human life. Realizing the importance of fashion & designing and understanding the need of education program for costume designing, under graduate degree program Fashion Technology and Costume Design was started in the Department of Fashion Technology and Costume Designing in the academic year 2005 – 2006. The department aims to create a platform for students to the field of studies in design, concept management, design production management, quality control, planning, fabric design, printing, fashion accessory design, fashion merchandising, textile science, color mixing, marketing the home designed products.
DFTCS VCSM is the one and only pioneering institute of fashion education in Karur district and has been in the van guard of providing professional human resource to the Textile and Apparel industry. The department focuses on design, management and technology. Further it enriches the quality of professionals that go into the Textile and Fashion industry

- To equip the students with a unique blend of knowledge about colors, styles, apparels, sketching, and competencies in fashion designing, production, merchandising and management.
- To manipulate the students’ skills by exposing them to Fashion Exhibitions, Fashion Competitions, Fashion Exposures, Industrial Visits and Marketing Surveys to meet the diverse demands of the global fashion industry.
- To motivate the students to innovate fresh techniques in textile industry through research studies and to make the city more significant as textile export hub.
